Sullivan Calls Bills ‘Embarrassingly Cheap’ (and Why That’s a Good Thing)

Former Bills LB Paul Posluszny

As the headline indicates, Jerry Sullivan describes the ‘embarrassingly cheap‘ Bills as an organization that’s not serious about winning now. Right or wrong, this is old trope if you’ve been following the Bills (or Sullivan) for any amount of time; and certainly plenty of ink has been spilled on the subject. This is the type of column Mr. Sullivan copy pastes from his archives when he has an early tee time.

Sullivan does however correctly point out the team’s wisdom showing patience at LB by NOT resigning Poszluzny (Sp? I’m not concerning myself with such trivial information any longer). Even the most staunch Poz apologists must concede that the linebacker was overpaid by Jacksonville by accepting a deal early in free agency. The market for linebackers has since plummeted, allowing Buffalo to land Barnett for a tidy 3 years, 12 million. Compare that to Poz’s 42 million, 15 million guaranteed contract, and it’s hard not to come to the conclusion that the Nix and company played this one correctly.
