Aaron Maybin Waived

Buddy Nix remarked, ‘Our long national Western New York nightmare is over.’

Not really, but this is just the official end, long after Bills fans had moved on mentally. Kind of like a wife who finally signs the divorce papers after kicking her husband out after being separated for a year and a half. The word that comes to mind for me is ‘closure.’ I could let you draw your own conclusions about me using a word generally associated with death, but I will say it’s the good kind of death.* Like, the death of the last big link to the Dick Jauron/Marv Levy era.

From a football standpoint, the team isn’t much different, but this is the symbolic end of an era. And that should be reason for Bills fans everywhere to be optimistic.

*After reading this sentence over, I see it could be misinterpreted. I don’t wish death, harm, sickness, or anything close to that to Maybin, and from what I could tell he seemed like a good guy. I hope he finds a niche in the league.
