Where You At T.J. Graham!?!

If you’ve been reading my Chalk Talks then you’d notice one thing… I’m rather critical of wide receiver T.J. Graham. And that didn’t change after Sunday’s disappearing act.

After a dismal rookie season for Graham, which was highlighted by drops and poor route running, especially in the Week 8 match-up at New England, there was a lot of pressure on the NC State alum coming in to the preseason. Graham came in to camp as the wide receiver opposite Stevie Johnson on the Bills’ depth chart. And leading a group of young receivers with Johnson, Graham had even more pressure on his shoulders than your average second year player. So far, Graham is letting that pressure crush him.

Up to this point, including the preseason, Graham has one catch for nine yards which came in the second preseason game against the Vikings. In the season opener Graham had one ball thrown his way, which was overthrown by EJ Manuel. One target in 95% of Buffalo’s 63 offense snaps is dismal. It’s disappointing.

T.J. has the potential to be an electric deep threat. A Mike Wallace-type wide receiver. There’s a time in a player’s career where you want to see the production show and that time is now. As a number two receiver you’d like to see at least a few receptions a game. I’m not calling for Graham to be a 1,000 yard receiver every year, but what I’d like to see a few touchdowns and close to 700 yards receiving.

With that rookie wideout Marquise “Flash” Goodwin sidelined with a fractured wrist for the foreseeable future, Coach Marrone will need more production out of this young wide receiver. If you want EJ Manuel to grow as a quarterback, you need a couple of dependable wide receivers to throw to, and right now T.J. Graham is not one of them.

I’m calling you out T.J. Graham! This weekend I want to see five catches, 70 yards, and maybe a touchdown, but even without the touchdown that stat-line isn’t too much to ask for. Let’s see what you got T.J. We want to see you break through that ceiling.
